About Art Therapy
Art is an intelligent form of expression, which fully engages the conscious mind in purposeful thought. By allowing the individual to instruct and to choose the method of expression, the art activity remains free for the individual to explore what he or she is willing to.
Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. Art Therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating self-exploration and understanding. Using imagery, colour, and shape as part of this creative therapeutic process, thoughts and feelings may be expressed that would otherwise be difficult to articulate.
